This course is for people who have lead routes on trad gear before. The routes previously led can be at any grade.
You should also be competent at lead belaying.

This course tailors the course content to individuals but typically covers the following skills:
Stance management and efficient ropework
Building belays refresher and refining gear placement
Climbing technique coaching and trad tactics
Getting off routes and descent
Avoiding problems and basic problem solving.
Lots of climbing!
The day after this course is a rescue skills for climbers course (highly recommended) which will include solving problems in a variety of locations and improvised rescue and self rescue.

Led routes on trad gear at any grade but feeling confident doing it.
Competent lead belaying.

All ropes, climbing hardware and emergency group kit is supplied. Climbing harnesses and helmets can be supplied on request. Participants will need outdoor clothing and footwear, climbing shoes and food for each day according to the kit list supplied.

This course is run at a ratio of 1 instructor to 2 climbers.
The rescue day is run at a maximum group size of 4 people to 1 instructor.

In case of bad weather we will find relevant skills and activities at low level or go to a local climbing wall.
Climbing wall entry is not included in the price.
We try to stay outside but may suggest going to an indoor wall if it will provide a better learning environment. Climbing wall fees are not included.
If a participant cancels between 4 and 2 weeks before the course 50% can be refunded. If less than 2 weeks no refund is given.
We recommend taking insurance to cover unforeseen events like illness.
