Rock Climbing Skills Courses

Typically a 2 to 5 day course, taking a climber from being an indoor climber to being able to lead trad routes.
Skills covered include:
Kit and equipment for trad climbing
Selecting routes, using guide books and trad grades
Being an efficient second
Lead belaying
Building belays
Placing trad gear
Climbing technique
Trad climbing tactics
Ratio 1:2 or 1:3

On this course we go through many things which could go wrong climbing, and learn solutions to solve them. We begin with how to avoid problems, progress to escaping the system, ascending a rope and much more.

Experience outdoor rock climbing for the first time and learn the skills to become independent.

NGB Refresher Days

A day, or multiple days, focusing on aspects of the HML syllabus to prepare you for your assessment. Days are bespoke to focus on your needs.
For the best quality, refresher days are delivered by staff who regularly train and assess HMLs and are therefore current with the syllabus.

Navigation Skills

Learn how to navigate with a map and compass.

For those who have some understanding and experience with a map and possibly a compass but want to learn more advanced skills.

What is the North Wales and England Rock Climbing Tour?
Make the most of a week’s rock climbing by staying flexible and keeping an open mind to hunt down the best climbing across North Wales and northern England. Whether there is a dream route you have in mind or are happy to go with the flow we’ll make the best of the week.
DEPOSIT | FULL AMOUNT 1:1 £1,150, 1:2 £1,500 (£750 each)
A climbing tour of the best seacliffs, crags and mountain routes in North Wales and Northern England.
Possible locations include Gogarth seacliffs, Lake District Mountain Crags, Northumbria sandstone crags, Peak District gritstone. Locations may revolve around the a particular route you’d like to climb and we can facilitate this around the weather.
We pack up the van with a load of climbing kit and a bookshelf full of guidebooks, consult the weather apps and head to the best places to climb that week and have
The idea to offer this style of guiding came about because the best climbing trips I’ve done in the UK have involved a high degree of flexibility to make the most out of a weeks climbing.
