This three day course helps prepare people for technical high altitude climbing expeditions.
Over the three days we will cover.
The impact of high altitude on the body in depth and what we can do to reduce symptoms, stay safe and have the best chance of success.. Also other aspects of staying healthy at altitude which is equally as important.
A day will be spent on climbing efficiently on fixed ropes in both ascent and descent, as well as an introduction to crevasse rescue skills.
The other two days will be spent climbing with a focus on efficient movement and climbing in boots.
We will be able to chat about the trips you are going on, including cultural considerations and training and physical preparation.
At some point over the three days there will be an opportunity to go to an independent outdoor shop to discuss kit and equipment options so that you know what is best to buy for your trip.

For this course you need should have been outdoor climbing or roped scrambling before.
You should know skills like putting on a harness and belaying a lead climber.

You will be required to have your own boots and suitable clothing for the mountains according to the kit list supplied.
You’ll also need to bring your own lunch and drink each day.
All technical climbing equipment is supplied. A harness, helmet and fixed line kit can be supplied but you may wish to bring your own.
It is helpful to bring a pair of thick expedition gloves to practice with..

The group size over three days is ! instructor to 2 participants.

We will meet in the Caban Cafe Brynrefail, North Wales at 9am on the first day of the course.

We will be going out in most weather but it may be decided that a indoor climbing wall is a better learning environment to cover skills, in which case the wall entry fee will be an additional cost.
If a participant cancels between 4 and 2 weeks before the course 50% can be refunded. If less than 2 weeks no refund is given.
We recommend taking insurance to cover unforeseen events like illness.
