This three day course helps prepare people for high altitude mountaineering expeditions.
We’ll begin the course by looking in depth at attitude to understand how it impacts the body and what we can do to reduce symptoms, stay safe and have the best chance of success.. Included in the morning is a talk on other aspects of staying healthy at altitude which is equally as important.
We then look at use of fixed ropes and crevasse rescue skills.
The following morning we spend some time organising kit and brief the team on the route we’ll take, before walking into a wild camp spot for the night. Over the journey and the evening we will be able to chat about the trips you are going on, including cultural considerations and training and physical preparation.
In camp we will demonstrate how to organise you tent and camp comfortably.
To simulate a summit day we will wake up pre-dawn and aim to incorporate some technical ground on our ascent suitable for unroped scrambling to a summit for sunrise.
On the walk out they’ll be a chance to ask any more questions about your trip. We’ll return by lunchtime and finish the course by heading to an independent outdoor shop to discuss kit and equipment options so that you know what is best to buy for your trip.
