  • A guided Crib Goch day is for anyone who wants to achieve traversing this famous ridge on Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon with a supportive leader.

Most people will have done some hillwalking before and, with support and guidance, feel able to tackle exposed mountain terrain.

  • The day begins by meeting at the Llanberis bus interchange.

We will then take the bus to Pen y Pass from where we start our ascent.

The scrambling starts on the East Ridge of Crib Goch which leads us to the summit and beginning of the exposed ridge which Crib Goch is famous for. We will cross this ridge and over the Pinnacles before a short descent before further scrambling to Crib y Ddysl.

After Garnedd Ugain the scrambling is over and we can enjoy the walk towards the summit of Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon.

The most common descent we’ll take is down the Llanberis path which will bring us back to Llanberis.

  • You will need to have a level of fitness to make 600m of ascent and 1000m descent which will take 6-8 hours.

You need to have suitable clothing and footwear (see equipment)

  • You’ll need to have robust footwear, preferably boots, but a robust approach shoe can also be appropriate for those used to wearing them in the mountains.

Suitable, non-cotton, clothing layers for outdoor activity. including waterproof jacket and trousers.

You’ll need to bring lunch and enough water (usually around 2 litres) for the day.

All rubbish including food waste will need to be carried back down.

  • Maximum group size is 4 people to 1 leader.

  • We will meet at the main Llanberis bus interchange at 9am (this time could be changed due to changes in bus timetables, please refer to the time in the joining email)

  • As this is a guided trip to specifically tackle Crib Goch if the leader deems it unsafe to go over Crib Goch due to weather and conditions on the route, most commonly due to high winds or rain, then either a reschedule or alternative route will be offered.

The leaders decision on the day is final.
