This course is for people who have lead routes on trad gear before. The routes previously led can be at any grade as long as you have felt relaxed and confident at that grade.
You should also be competent at lead belaying.

The course will cover skills specific to sea cliff climbing including:
Route selction: Guidebooks, conditions and tides.
Accessing routes on sea cliffs: anchors, safe abseiling.
Avoiding problems and basic problem solving.
Lots of climbing!
The extra day (highly recommended) will include Solving problems on sea cliffs, improvised rescue and self rescue.

Led routes on trad gear at any grade but feeling confident doing it.
Competent lead belaying.

All ropes, climbing hardware and emergency group kit is supplied. Climbing harnesses and helmets can be supplied on request. Participants will need outdoor clothing and footwear, climbing shoes and food for each day according to the kit list supplied.

This course is run at a ratio of 1 instructor to 2 climbers.
The rescue day is run at a maximum group size of 4 people to 1 instructor.

The North Wales course will meet at the Caban Cafe, Brynrefail LL55 3NR.
The course run from Pembrokeshire will meet at St. David’s Visitor Centre carpark
Meeting time can vary according to tide times but is usually around 9am.

In case of bad weather we will find relevant skills and activities at low level.
We try to stay outside but may suggest going to an indoor wall if it will provide a better learning environment. Climbing wall fees are not included.
If a participant cancels between 4 and 2 weeks before the course 50% can be refunded. If less than 2 weeks no refund is given.
We recommend taking insurance to cover unforeseen events like illness.
